finest American white oak ex-bourbon casks and hand selected oloroso sherry butts. Harmonised in bespoke sherry butts... das war ja noch harmlos im Vergleich zur heutigen Mischung.
"1263 King Alexander III." hieß er früher , dann nur noch King Alexander III.
Die tasing note für den 1263 lautete: Gehackte Mandeln und reiche Citrus Früchte. Portwein, Marsala, wilde Beeren und frische Pflaumen. Warme Vanillenoten von sahnigem Toffee mit reifen roten Früchten.
Ähnlich aber anders als das was auf der neuen Packung steht.
Nichts mehr von "Vintage Oloroso and Madeira Butts, Vintage Bourbon Barrels, Cabernet Sauvignon Barriques. Nach anderen Quellen Haut-Marbuzet wine casks (Haut-Marbuzet is a very good cru bourgeois from St. Estèphe), 1/3 sherry and 1/3 bourbon."
Die Mischung aus sechs bourbon und Oloroso casks wurden gevatted und dann nochmals in sherry butts verheiratet.
Keine Altersangabe, sollte aber in der Urversion whiskies aus dem Jahr 1990 enthalten, zumindest in der 1263 Fassung war das so.
Richard Paterson's kreativer Ader wurde hier freier Lauf gelassen und es kamen malts aus vintage Oloroso und Madeira butts, vintage Bourbon barrels and Cabernet Sauvignon barriques zum Einsatz. Woher die Information über Port und Marsala stammt ist unklar.
'In 1263 the ancestor of Clan Mackenzie saved King Alexander III from being gored by a stag with a single arrow. The grateful king granted him the right to bear a stag's head in his coat of arms, with the motto "Help the King" (Cuidich 'n'Righ, in the Gaelic language). The Dalmore distillery was long owned by the Mackenzie family, and every bottle of The Dalmore is adorned with this noble emblem: a stag's head, with twelve pounts to its antlers, signifying a "Royal".
This pioneering expression is truly a fitting reward for those with the courage to stand apart and make a difference.
