bottlers note: Aroma: Dickes Torf läßt dich wissen, du hast einen ernsthaften Islay single malt in den Händen. Dann kommt ein fruchtigeres, cremigeres Gefühl - sanfte reiche Eiche, beruhigende Vanillecreme und Vanille. Aber nicht zu sehr zurücklehnen, das ist nur der Anfang.
Geschmack: Binde dich fest und warte auf den Einschlag von öligem schwarzen Rauch mit einem reichen, schweren und mundfüllend torfigen Gefühl. Dann kommt ein süß klebriges Aroma von gegrillter Banane - wirklich, pikanten Sultaninen und Trockenfrüchten.
Im Nachklang kommt das Torf wieder, wie man es erhofft oder befürchtet hat. Diesmal bringt es authentische spanische sherry Eichigkeit mit, angenehm und verstörend süß. Eine letzte scharf salzige Erinnerung daß man hier nichts gewöhnliches in Händen hält.

Den Sherry Bomb gab es seit dem 26. Oktober 2018 offiziell den Smokehead Sherry Bomb. Das marketing beschrieb ihn als "an explosive peaty sherried whisky" "boldly blasted by Oloroso sherry casks". Warum er dann bei dem Namen in einer schwarzen Flasche sein muß...
Beides sind heavily peated Islay single malts, nur die Bomb war eine limited edition.

Ein marketing Mensch war bei der Bomb besonders inspiriert und schaffte die Verbindung zum spanischen sherry mit den Worten "A whisky that's more explosive than an Armada cannonball". Kein großes Verdienst, denn die Armada kam 1588 kaum dazu überhaupt zu feuern.
Was drinnen ist war wie immer nicht klar, in dem Zusammenhang schribb ein englischer Kollege: "Developed by Ian Macleod Distillers in 2006, the range consists of independently-bottled Islay single malts presented to appeal to younger consumers."
